Pattaya Restaurants - Reviews

Recommended Posts

Couldn't find a review of Bacco, the Italien restaurant next to the Glasshouse in Najomtien on this forum.

Deserves it's own thread but it was my first visit tonight, so I need to collect some more "evidence".

When entering I was greeted by one of the farang managers who enquired about my wellbeings by asking "How are you?"

My reply was short: "Wet". His looks were a bit perplexed despite it was pouring down outside. Maybe he was worried the the 2 umbrella guys at the parking area were not doing their jop properly?

Anyway we were brought to one of the tables at the huge glass windows which are usually opened if the weather is a bit calmer than the hurricane that was set loose on Pattaya this evening.

I pressed my camera against the wet window: definately not a good idea to sit outside today, but it could be a good place to do so when it is a dry day.

Walking through the restaurant you can hardly overlook all the wine bottles. Not sure how many different selections they have, the wine list was long and should be a bit more than at your local 7-11.

post-111-0-67571400-1437404578_thumb.jpg

The place is huge but still has a nice atmosphere.

Had a pizza with Italien sausage, ham, artichokes and mushrooms. 340 Baht.

post-111-0-42999100-1437404642_thumb.jpg

Not cheap but large and the mushrooms and ham were one of the best I had in Thailand, the toppings were plenty.

Actually too much, a bit less would have been better.

German draft wheat beer sets you back at 250 or 260 for half a liter, a Margarita cocktail was 220 Bt.

Still good value considering the ambiente and location, but when the bill came it showed additional tax and service charge on top.

My final vote will have too wait until I tried some of their pasta and desserts.

Toilet tip: they got air condition!

Doesn't sound pricy for the obvious ambiance and quality of food. Thanks for the info.

Love all you can eat sea food buffet?

Love to dine at the beach and don't mind clinging to your glass as it might fall down on the tilted table on the sloping beach?

Then you might want to try the Tree@sea.

post-111-0-38197700-1437920679_thumb.jpg

I suspect that this tree has something to do with the name of the restaurant but I could be wrong.

post-111-0-77111100-1437920725_thumb.jpg

Buffet is 399 Baht, but I understood there is a time limit of 1,5 hours to get the food.

Pasta and sushi:

Some Thai dishes:

Som Tum corner

Pork for those who don't fancy that stuff coming out of the salty water

Shells, mussels and squid

post-111-0-95338900-1437921004_thumb.jpg

Now to the good stuff: rock lobster, crabs and to the left some huge shrimps.

post-111-0-75863300-1437921039_thumb.jpg

Not a huge choice but I would probably concentrate on the stuff on the last pic.

Will be back soon to load up my plates - you can BBQ at your own table is you wish.

Tree@sea is located in Ban Amphur, just drive down the main road of the town and watch out for the sign.

Back to the Tree@sea for some BBQ.

We went early but could have come late as there were no more than 3 or 4 tables occupied tonight compared to a busy Sunday evening.

Almost untouched:

post-111-0-05972400-1438094850_thumb.jpg

This time there were some of those larger crabs left. They are rather sweetish.

Chicken and pork

post-111-0-40374500-1438094914_thumb.jpg

Didn't tried these....sauces?

post-111-0-95978200-1438094931_thumb.jpg

Tom Yum Gung was excellent

post-111-0-20264300-1438094958_thumb.jpg

Some Gung with garlic and fried rice.

post-111-0-43419100-1438094982_thumb.jpg

Different Thai drinks, made from lemon grass and other stuff.

post-111-0-56315900-1438095015_thumb.jpg

Another reason to come: all you can drink Chang draft included in the price.

post-111-0-26139100-1438095058_thumb.jpg

Let's get it on.

post-111-0-38581300-1438095138_thumb.jpg

post-111-0-47859700-1438095179_thumb.jpg

We had 4 crabs, a dozend prawns, 2 rock lobster, squid, some hoy, Tom Yum, a pork steak, some (ice cold) spaghetti, som tam, 2 pitcher Chang.

798 Baht.

When we arrived the staff informed us that they would let us know 20 minutes before the 1 and a half hour time limit is up.

Later the served us the bill 5 minutes before the time limit approached. When asking why they didn't inform us the answer was "today there are less people."

?????

Anyway I was already full after one hour.

Plus:

-Location!!!!

-fresh prawns and crabs, ...., delicious.

-beer included

Minus:

-The time limit while sufficient is a bit annoying.

-Other than seafood which you cook the items are cold

-Only one dip for the seafood

Not sure if there are any other All you can eat seafood BBQs where you can sit directly on the beach, if you know one, let me know.

I will be back for sure.

Had some cocktails afterwards enyoing the view of the lightning in the distance and the light of Jomtien.

Life is good.

My final vote will have too wait until I tried some of their pasta and desserts.

Let's do some voting.

I revisited Bacco in NaJomtien. Only 4 or 5 tables busy, which makes this place look deserted.

post-111-0-22862500-1442328539_thumb.jpg

Today I had a starter: Parma ham with melon.

post-111-0-05154700-1442328470_thumb.jpg

480 Baht, that is 12 Euro and almost the same I paid in Venice.

Nice, but there is little that can go wrong.

Main course Lasagna.

post-111-0-48379100-1442328611_thumb.jpg

What a disappointment. Not only a tiny portion but not much taste as well. 300 Baht wasted.

GF had the Tom Yum Gung (250 Bt) and some cabbage with bacon (180 Bt). Nice with some huge gung inside.

post-111-0-54793700-1442328693_thumb.jpg

post-111-0-98636100-1442328752_thumb.jpg

The dessert: Creme Brulee flambee. Fantastic.

post-111-0-96209600-1442328788_thumb.jpg

The service is very attentive, I was looking around the table for some toothpic and the waiter immediately jumped and brought some without being asked to. On the other hand if there is hardly a customer what else shoud all the staff do.

Final vote:

Sorry, the Lasagna put me down, will take time until I will get over it and give the place another try.

Got to say even if the depth of the plate is slightly deceiving the Lasagna looks like just a dollop of sauce, I would be very disappointed with that for 300 baht. Dress all the other bits up but main meal disappointment would not see me go back.

I think the place could have been empty due weather etc but the food is what usually brings people back. Looks like a good place to go as a group but if near Glasshouse maybe it is losing out to it's better competition.

Love the reviews though.

Lasagna and the single slice of melon would be the.killers for me.

3 slices of melon, difficult to see.

As a big Lasagna fan I prefer the "al forno" version with plenty of cheese on top, same as one of my favorite places in Germany are doing them.

post-111-0-39287100-1442408966_thumb.jpg

Hard to find in Thailand.

No more buffet available. They are planning something (seafood market?) else/similar/whatever, will have to go back later to find out what.

La Taverna in Bang Sare.

Was travelling from Sattahip back to Pattaya and decided to try the Italian Restaurant there.

Nicely decorated.

post-111-0-57262500-1445088361_thumb.jpg

The table matts ( or how do you call this stuff they put under your plate) gave me a bit of a headache as I have just spent some holiday in Italy but could remember only a few of the regions. Hey, I have propably still difficulties with the German regions, especially since the wall came down and a few were added.

post-111-0-34917400-1445088298_thumb.jpg

Extensive menu with some special dishes, prices a bit higher than usually: glass of house red 200 Bt, Lasagna 280 Bt.

A complimentary snack: mozarella with tomato and olives.

post-111-0-43412200-1445088293_thumb.jpg

The pizza looked nice so I had one with ham and mushrooms (270 Baht) and ordered extra Salami at 55 Baht.

post-111-0-99172000-1445088309_thumb.jpg

GF ordered chicken with sweet chilli sauce (240 Baht). Looked nice but didn't taste special. GF didn't really like it. As she had during the Italy trip every other day a chicken dish, she must be an expert by now. :smiling:

post-111-0-25882600-1445088323_thumb.jpg

The pizza was nice but they forgot to put the Salami on it so I told them to take the 55 Baht off the bill.

Good selection of different cakes in the dessert show fridge but I am trying to cut down my weight and ordered the bill instead which came to 710 Baht including the 2 Leo for 75 Baht each.

Hmm, there must have been some service charge added: 270+240+75+75 = 660. The Salami was listed but showed 0 Baht.

Anyway, it is a bit far out and there are many good Italian restaurants in the vicinity where I live.

Easy to find, turn from Sukhumvit into Bang Sares main road and after a while you see the restaurant on the right hand side.

Anybody tried La Taverna and can report their experience?

Yotin's on the Darkside.

post-111-0-63566200-1445151198_thumb.jpg

A new restaurant located in one of the houses that have been standing empty for a while between Fabrice and Aqua Deymie.

I believe the Thai owner was involved in "Suggestions" on Soi Talman.

Opened 1 month ago it offers European and Thai food, Sunday's roast and FridayBBQ buffet for 295 Bt with a free glass of Sangria and a Lunch menu for 199 Bt.

post-111-0-17036600-1445151229_thumb.jpg

The outside seating area looks a bit sparse, there is a pool table available.

post-111-0-44195200-1445151311_thumb.jpg

post-111-0-46018600-1445151288_thumb.jpg

I believe the interior is a bit more stylish but I didn't want to disturb the guests with my camera, so didn't go inside. Some more pics maybe another time.

When I saw that Lasagna was on offer, I didn't pay much attention to the other dishes on the menu.

First some free appetizer: a creamy liver pate and bread.

post-111-0-93311100-1445151875_thumb.jpg

The Lasagna came with a side salad as the salad bar is not yet available due to the low amount of customers.

post-111-0-54105800-1445151388_thumb.jpg

Potato salad, beef with thousand island dressing, very nice.

The Lasagna wasn't the style I am still looking for but it was a nice chunk and tasted very good. Together with the salad 220 Bt.

post-111-0-56532500-1445151591_thumb.jpg

For dessert I chose the ice cream with red fruits, one of my favorites. I think it was 120 Bt.

post-111-0-95218700-1445151637_thumb.jpg

It took a while to arrive and the owner was very apologetic and sent me something that could have been a cranberry schnaps.

post-111-0-37400200-1445151776_thumb.jpg

Leo beer was 65 Bt.

I am very keen to check out the Friday BBQ buffet:

-Salad Bar:

many choice of fresh salad (pasta, ptato, coleslaw....), homemade pate, meatballs, filled eggs, filled tomato

-BBQ:

chicken skewer, pork skewer, chicken fillet, spare ribs, chicken drumstick, dory fillet, salmon steak, chicken wings, masaman curry chicken leg, jacket potato with sour cream, mashed potatos, french fries

- Dessert:

Panna cotta red fruit, crepe suzette, lemon sorbet

As written before: 295 Bt with a glass of Sangria.

Will write a report or at least snap some pics and put them up here.

Just saw the "for sale" - ad on Baht&Sold (owner can't take care of both his restaurants) and nicked some pics.

Wanted to try the BBQ tonight but if the place changes ownership soon, might be better to wait until then.

Wanted to try the BBQ tonight but if the place changes ownership soon, might be better to wait until then.

Had some business in the area so went for the BBQ anyway.

The salad buffet:

Beside the usual stuff it offered some noodle and potato salad....

... and many more.

These dishes, such as ribs and meat balls, were heated in the kitchen on demand.

Others were ordered from the BBQ menu. GF and me chose chicken and pork skewer, BBQ ribs, Souvlaki.

They were freshly prepared so temperature was not an issue.

Other side dishes available were jacket potatos and french fries.

Belgium style mussels were on the list as well, ordered 1 portion, this was enough for 3.

Forgot to take a pic of the free glass of Sangria, but here is the dessert: Crema Catalana for me and ice cream for GF.

Chocolate mousse was available as well.

Again this red berry drink with a little alcohol on the house.

All for 295 Baht per person.

There wasn't anything to complain about other than I am now stuffed, lying on my sofa and can hardly move.

Don't dare to get on the scale tomorrow.

Everything was well prepared, tasted fresh and was delicious!

We were there from 6 to 8 pm, only one other couple who was sitting in the small aircon room (only 2 small tables there next to the salad buffet, so if you need AC better make a reservation).

Hope they don't sell that place soon, will be back.

Ohh, someone stole the white ball from the pool table, so no game possible.
