Some pics I took last fall up in Kalasin Province.

It was a tiny little village next to a small reservoir that was used for irrigation and loved by the local livestock.

Old people and children. You see a lot of them, but many of the working age folks are off in the big cities and factories.

That village in Kalasin looks familiar. The irrigation channel going through the middle village provides a swimming hole for the local kids. Is there a dodgy Thai hotel just around the corner?

To the casual observer this one looks a bit more like a lake than a canal. It was formed about 40+ years ago by damming a stream and it captures rain water and over flows into the local irrigation canals. Other than a local "love hotel" about 12 klicks away, the nearest hotel by any reasonable stretch of the imagination is 18 klicks at the area market town.

I'm guessing I stayed a little down stream from the lake.

There was a Thai hotel/motel just near the village, about 500 down the main road into Kalasin from the soi the village is on, dodgy little joint with about 6 or so rooms you can drive up to. The owner gave me special price after seeing I was a falang, g/f gave him a serve. :realmad:

You don't see too many sick buffaloes do you? :D

Hardly see a buffalo at all up in our village. I've always assumed they are all in the buffalo hospital.
