Uploading And Posting Photos Or Pictures 101

Recommended Posts

Guest

There have been many questions asked about uploading photos and why can I only upload so many then get an error message etc, so I will attempt to provide some guidance here.

First of all there are some rules, every forum has rules and there is usually a good reason for this.

1. The maximum file upload size is 2mb, this is set in stone in the PHP configuration. All photos are automatically adjusted to fit the screen so why post a photo so large that when expanded you can only see a part of it?

2. The maximum number of photos per POST is 15, there is no limit on how many posts there are in a topic so go ahead and create as many posts with 15 or less photos as you like, if you try to post more then you will get an error message explaining this.

3. There are 2 ways to post photos, the first is to use the full editor and use the Attach Files function at the bottom, once attached you can add them to your post anywhere you like and type text around them etc. The other method is to use a photo storage site online such as flickr or photobucket and post the direct link to the image using the image icon in your edit window, this is the preferred method as it only uses bandwidth and not storage as well. In either case you are limited to 15 images per post.

If you need to resize your images there are plenty of topics also in this FAQ section on how to do this, you can do it online or just by using MS Paint or another photo editing software. Our preferred image size is 640x480px.

Basic help on how to use the forum, post messages, pictures etc can be found by clicking on the Help link at the bottom left of your screen.

Any questions please feel free to ask in this section and our members will be only too happy to answer them.

There seems to be a problem today.

I have been trying to upload just one picture which has already been reduced in size. However, I keep being told that it is too big to upload.

Hi Baz, how big is it in megabytes? the upload limit for a single file is 2mb

Apologies, my error.

I reduced the size of the file but the reduction size seems to have changed, so the file still wasn't below the 2Mb.
