The best chippy is opening the 3rd of November on the Darkside (Soi Khao Noi).

They are already expecting a really busy night on the Monday, so how do you fancy going and giving them another busy night on the Tuesday and fill your face with the best fish supper in town?

I know i'm in :verymad:

Between Paradise bar and the Flinstone bar you'll find "The Great British Fish & Chip Shop"!

You'd think it's got to be as no-one else in their right mind would open on the Darkside something that is so obviously wanted in Pattaya on a professional scale.

Nope but certainly set up by guys that know what they are doing

Why is that Martin, the darkside has a thriving British Ex-Pat community? Seeing as you say it is wanted in town, where would you have one?

Do you honestly think there's a big enough community of expats on the Darkside to keep a "specialised" eatery going? If so maybe I've grossly underestimated numbers over there.

Simon's here in Jomtien would be a killer if his product and prices were right, but they're not. Location's good for Jomtien.

I would think anywhere on 2nd road, from maybe Diana/Honey up to soi 7 would be a great place for a Pattaya British Fish 'n' Chips shop. The burger and kebab guys have always done well up that way, and if you had someone doing traditional chippy stuff (you commented on our "foot long" sausages...... how about one o' them in thick batter..... wonderful!) as a take away (grub wrapped in newspaper? Nah, have to be those 'orrible polystyrene boxes) I think it'd go down great. Not a cafe........ keep overheads down.

Great idea for the expats , but for myself as a tourist in patts, the last thing i want to eat is fish and chips.

There's a big enough community to cater for over 100 bars & specialised eatries (German, Swiss, Italian, British) as it is...Personally I don't see how Simons is a better location for a British Chippy seeing as Jomtien is predominantly 'European' but I do understand what you are saying. However, to say that they are out of their mind just goes to show that you don't have a full understanding of the demographics on the darkside :teehee:

They are basing their business on takeaway and deliveries though they do have seating too...Oh and they are doing 'Newspaper' and none of the poly shite.

You're the minority

I'd love an accurate figure of how many ex-pats there are living on the Darkside, i reckon in the region of 10,000 but i'll accept i could be way out either higher or lower, i'm probably on the low side.

Sounds a bit high too me, but who knows, every day I see new white faces along the Nernplubwaan, Khao Noi and Khao Talo. Definetley well into the 1000's though.

Erm, you said "but for myself as a tourist in patts, the last thing i want to eat is fish and chips" and I reckon you are in the minority...There's plenty of beer guzzlin', chippy eatin' UK tourists that I am sure would love a great portion of fish and chips but granted upon till now difficult to get hold of

Agreed but once eaten unless its spectacular i doubt many would return. The expats i can understand more because living over there so long they will miss the traditional british fare. I would adopt the "Oh well its as near as dam it" kind of attitude. Second best somtimes is acceptable.

Beer guzzling ,chippy tourists i feel would prefer to go to Mc Donalds or KFC, at least there you can guarantee consistant quality exactly as you would have in your home country. Dont forget a lot of people are very apprehensive about eating thai equivalent of our good 'ol british nosh .

Its a bloody good idea , but f**k me its got to be extra special , even down to the vinager thats used and tatar sauce etc .

But that was my point Lee..... I should think the number of beer guzzlin', chippy eatin' UK tourists that visit the darkside would be minimal, no?

LMAO,you've never had the KFC here then I take it...

Nowt wrong with Sarsons :teehee:

Of course the 'tourists' will be minimal but there's plenty of consistent ex-pats as customers...Probably the same amount of tourists that go to Simons from Pattaya.

BTW, if it does turn out to be the dogs bollocks it will be another reason for the tourists to pop on over...Not bad if you think about it 5 bars within 2 minutes walking distance from each other and a sausage supper for both yourself and your barfine
