Tescos and Good Imported Foods

Recommended Posts

In honour of TD for starting a Foodland thread I just thought I would add a few comments about Tesco.

Now my local Tesco in Hua Hin is really poor at offering any UK specialist foods or even able to offer a good variety of other foods that would make a trip up the aisle worthwhile. However I have been to Tesco in Khon Kaen (on the 2 road north of Khon Kaen town) and I have been really surprised as to what is on offer.

They have so many Tesco own branded goods that it is a joy to shop there. Today I bought Tescos shredded wheats with fruit, Tesco wholewheat pasta, Tesco dark chocolate and my favourite, Tesco finest English Breakfast teabags (50 for 79 baht - less that a Starbuck's cuppa).

The product availabilty is amazingly vast.

Now I love fish and basically for frozen fish in Hua Hin the choice is Pangasius, Pangasius or Pangasius. Ok occasionally frozen salmon but not always. Khon Kaen Tesco has snapper, grouper, Indian mackerel and others. The freezers run to 3 aisles, Hua Hin just the 1. Hua Hin is a beach resort that has very poor shopping facilities. Khon Kaen simply amazes me.

Now I know Pattaya has no problems with variety and I assume the Tesco stores carry many UK products but my shopping experience in Khon Kaen has made me smile. May need a move to a northern city.

Just for info, sorry no beer or pussy was mentioned although Tuna was also available in Tesco today.

Don't see any of the above in Hua Hin, apologies if all these items are available to you in Pattaya, Bangkok etc.

The Cornish fudge is so bloody good.
