WEEKEND TRAIN FROM BANGKOK TO PATTAYA HAILED AS A SUCCESS

Bangkok to Pattaya hailed

Authorities here in Pattaya and those from the State Railway Association are hailing the new weekend train running between Bangkok and Pattaya as a success following the first weekend of its operation last weekend claiming it to be a massive boom for tourism here in Pattaya.

A meeting party was assembled to greet passengers onboard the first ever air-condition “sprinter” service from Bangkok on Saturday which included city spokesman Pinit Maneerat and an entourage of tourism officials.

It was reported that a singer was also present in the welcoming party to greet passengers.

Bangkok to Pattaya hailed

Making the trip on the first service was special guest the deputy chief of the State Railways Thongangsak Pongprasert.

The train appeared to be packed however many commented online that it appeared only Thai people were making use of the service as a distinct lack of foreign tourists could be seen in the photos.

The service is scheduled to run every Saturday and Sunday for the next six months.

Speaking about the success of the first weekends services Pinit explained passengers could use their train tickets for discounts at local attractions here in Pattaya and Sri Racha.

It was reported that the new service which includes three 64 seat carriages is now fully booked until the end of March.

My mate was talking about that. Not sure I would want to be doing it with a big suitcase though.

I have done the trip from swampy by rail onto the reservation (soi 4)  a few times travelling light. Was painless and quick enough but meh Taxi mostly because it's so kin easy.
