I’d like a trip up to Nong Khai where a long  term friend comes from and who works in a restaurant in Pattaya. I’d like to cross the border to Laos and spend a couple of nights there. The only thing is, and I know this sounds really sad, but I really like Pattaya so I’d have to hurry back to my second home as fast as possible. I have been to Phuket many times and would recommend it there for the scenery and islands to people who haven’t been but the nightlife is better in Pattaya if that’s what you like.

Outside of Pattaya, which place stands out as somewhere you would return to?

Kids want to go to Chang Rai. I would like to see the white temple Mulphy did a TR of that is around that area (I think). Not sure why they are keen.

Will certainly have a couple of trips away in April, maybe even to sin city itself. Some friends from UK are going to koh Chang for a week on their way over to Aus, I fancy some of that.

Definitely not going anywhere around songkran time, apart from the village.

Alex: Is it worth going up to Laos via Nong Khai?  I know it’s not Pattaya but would like to experience something very different for 3 or 4 days.
