What Arrangements Have You Made ?

Recommended Posts

This is not the most pleasant of posts, but one that I think might inevitably save a lot of anguish for others in the future. Others being your family.

For all those folks living in Thailand or spending a lot of time here, have you spoken with a friend about what you would like doing should you either drop dead of have a serious accident? Giving them a contact telephone number for starters. I wouldn’t want my family to hear of my demise from the British Embassy and I wouldn’t want a Thai girl phoning them either

Anyway, I have discussed this with a mate and we agreed to send each other an email with our family details etc and that’s it. End of conversation. I hope I never have to phone his folks, but I will. And I’m sure he feels the same way about me

Gentlemen, do it sooner rather than later. Don’t put it off.

Sorry about the depressing nature, I wasn't going to post this but decided we all need a little nudge.............

U havent got a last will and testament here ????

I have one, plus full details for tel numbers to my son and mum,and i havent got any problems for gf to phone them, why should i ????

I would check up with embassy on line re your death Rob,i read somewhere that the body will get sent back to your home country without a will, costs are about 10,000 quid.I have a mate who semi lives here and he has no private medical and tells me to contact his brother, and have his body burnt here, wtf is that about, and i will bediscussing this with him on his return, its a lot more than that, including who pays for the f**king medical bills.

Wish it was as easy as that mate.U must have a will Alex,so much simpler.I have one in the UK for my son with my UK/offshore assetts, and one here for my gf,and that includes if she dies first, now that could be big problems for farangs if not married but live together.

I have a will in the UK, but that's not really the issue, the will comes after the heartbreak and confusion - after the life support machine has been switched off because nobody has taken the responsibility and nobody can authorize payment etc and the machine WILL be turned off if that's not sorted and how terrible would that be if it was two days before your loved one were notified. All because you didnt ask a friend to take control.

And that's what i'm saying

Imagine your hard of hearing mother trying to make sense of your Thai girl? falang mai dee, mai sabai............I don't want to even think about that.

Hanibal7, how often does your TG talk to your mother? You understand the thai lingo and her pronunciation but your mother, after receiving this shock might not.

And I just think the whole tone would be better coming from a friend. My mate will get a full understanding of the situation before he makes the call and me vice versa. I will know what answers are required and I will have them before I make the call.

Mrs Smith, I am sorry to have to contact you but your son is in ICU he needs authorizing of 10,000 pounds, the bank sort code is xxxxxx I can book you a room or a flight, he has 3 days to live............... again I apologize for the depressing paragraph but I hope you take my point

I have an agreement with a friend.

If I die first, he'll go round to my place and remove my extensive collection of animal porn.

If he dies first, I'll go round to his place and remove his cock rings, butt plugs and gay midget porn.

Wouldn't want the family wading through all that.

I and My Thai lady are in close contact with my UK daughter and son ,we talk at least every week.

So if any bad news I would like it to come from my Lady as she knows and get on well with

all my family back in the UK.

Also we have stopped with my children in the UK ,also my UK daughter has had a holiday with us in Thailand.

Not sure what id want if i go see my maker ,let them sort out what makes them happy.

I do have my finances sorted and my family knows about this if the worse happens.

Also nominated where my company pension would go backed up with a will in the UK.

Do have a very good private medical insurance ,will pay up to 5 million bhts in one year and illness goes on will pay only max of 15 million bhts.

But saying this a very good post ,and people must make some plans

Not just for them selfs ,but also for your Thai lady if you have know and lived with each other for a long time

Hi Rob,my gf speaks with my mum on thephone already mate.My brother has a thai wife and daughter, who is 19 now,so no problems for me mate.A;lready discussed this with my mum and son,she would phone my son first then the decision would be for him to allow Pon to tell my mum or he would do it,assuming they are alive when i die, which i doubt with my mum. That is why the agreement is for my son to take the first call.Telephone numbers are in a small box in the house,as it would be horrible for my gf to start pissing about with who to contact if i suddenly die.I have told the family and Pon to only allow the medical company to go to the maximum and not pay a penny for me unless my survival is very good. The thai last will, will cancell the long term partnership agreement on my death, and if my gf dies first her last will, kicks in but i have to sell the house within a year or a company name, and her mum wont have the house too. Have i missed anything ???

Yes, otherwise it wouldn't be a very successful strategy.

I suggest you conduct a SWOT analysis when you have time, perhaps focus on this notion that you wont spend a penny on your health if you dont have a high survival rate - that could be abused to get your money - you what these Thais are like

Apart from that i cant see a problem other than where do I send my invoice?

Its free by the way so it might be an option

My American medical insurance covers me to an extent while in Thailand and then I always take out a very comprehensive medical insurance for the entire time I am in LOS including flight back and accompanied by a doctor if necessary.

I am working on will etc in the states. A friend and I are both concerned about and poking around trying to find some answers and how the protocol works. Must get this done. I will not need a Thai side atttorney if I do this right.
