  1. I have bought many made to measure suits and shirts in Phuket and Pattaya over the years; unbelievably cheap compared to tailors back home but quality isn't always the best.
  2. I prefer to look at value for money as opposed to simply expense. Pattaya is very hard to beat for many things we like, especially for a holiday trip to bars, restaurants, decent hotels, massages, live bands, trips to the islands like Koh samet and of course the obligatory visit to the amazing Gogos.
  3. The worst part was losing my younger brother (by 9 years) earlier this year. He left 2 little girls and a wife. He was a devoted family man. Quite the opposite to me and just does not seem right that I’m still here and he isn’t Best parts Were I loved travelling around the world especially 3 visits a year to Thailand and will try to do the same for the next 10 years
  4. Oman Air Business Class food was amazing on my last trip out between Heathrow and Muscat. Every course was so tasty and seemed fresh. Economy class food is hardly tasty and Best Economy food I’ve had is Cathay Pacific between Hong Kong and Heathrow.
  5. And I thought you really didn't care about me.
  6. Snooze filter away MM but why ask me to "Then go on" then? I am far from "getting mixed up" as well - your accusation is at the very least naïve. Anyway, I have no intention in convincing you or any one else as that was not the purpose of my original post. I am more than happy with the lounges I use via my Priority Pass card and it serves me really well as I travel frequently throughout the year. Furthermore, I have no idea why you brought up the fact that the specific airline business lounges are in a "different league" as I know that already since I have used them for years. There is no "getting mixed up" from me. Have a great evening!
  7. It’s all in my original post. Please you go back again but read carefully this time sir.
  8. Yes, Emirates has always been a good airline. One of my first trips to Thailand was from Manchester and Emirates was the airline I used. The plane to Dubai was a Airbus 310. That was a long time ago but I enjoyed it. The airport was was much smaller then.
  9. No. I don’t have priority pass from a credit card. 2 hour nibble? Splash of water? What do you mean?
  10. Personally I don’t mind the stopover as long as I can use one of the business lounges and the transfer time is no more than 2 hours. They are both good airlines but unless I book premium economy with EVA (Business class is too expensive for me with EVA) I wouldn’t fly with them in the cramped economy. As for Emirates the stopover is a welcome relief to squeeze out of the economy seat and have a wander round to use one of the business lounges. I can enter one of the lounges by using my priority pass card and then take a refreshing shower and enjoy a peaceful meal. Emirates don’t offer premium economy as far as I know.
  11. Easter is always expensive unless you are able to book way in advance. I’m going back in 4 weeks and flights with Qatar to Bkk from Lhr are still only £440 return for 4 week trip. I bought mine 6 months ago with Oman for just under £400 return.
  12. You have my sympathies Smiler. At least I was there for only 2 hours and that was grim.
  13. Yes the airline has been in a lot of trouble recently and Many flights cancelled last week as well. Flew with them twice in the past and I have to say they were a good airline back then. However the transfer via Mumbai was horrendous and I vowed never to fly again with them.
  14. It’s a good forum and there are some very interesting topics to follow. I’ve been a member a long time and whilst not a prolific poster, I’ve always kept in touch with Pattaya via the forum especially when back in England.
  15. Always have chicken noodles late lunch in there after cinema in the avenue. Very good place and there is a stall that does superb smoothies.
  16. That's what I thought. Flew only economy with them before and sure had beers on the plane. Kuwait airlines is definitely dry though. Think with Gulf Air they don't serve wines from what I have read up but beers are served.
  17. They do come up quite frequently at that price for Gulf Air Business Class but sometimes have a long layover in Bahrain. Sure you can find a transit hotel at the airport for a sleep for a few hours or use the comfy business lounge. In August, I've got a 8 hour layover flying with Swissair to BKK via Zurich and have booked a transit hotel day room inside the airport for 6 hours.
  18. Oh yeah - I forgot about that. Wonder what Rangers fans think about that.
  19. Thanks, to some extent I agree. Technically, as I'm sure you are aware a derby can only be one where the teams are from the same city or region so United V City is without a doubt a true derby with deep rooted rivalries. Clearly, there can be both friendly and unfriendly rivalries but I can tell you from my own personal experiences from as early back as the early 1970s that the United V City matches back then were certainly not tame affairs however they were not extremely nasty affairs either. Back in the early 1970s, when I used to wear my red united top in the street as a kid knocking a football against a wall or with my best mate in south Manchester, I regularly had scraps (fights) and lost most, thrown stones at and chased by same aged city fans who lived in my neighbourhood but I refused to take my Bobby Charlton red devils retro cotton shirt off; it was all part of growing up and I Ioved it. If I had worn any other 1st division (premier league wasn't around back then) team's colours there would have been no problem - even Leeds or Liverpool for that matter. Trouble before and after the Utd V City games did happen but it was no where near as bad as when Leeds United came to Old Trafford. United V Liverpool was also another team that had a bad reputation for trouble and so was Chelsea. As for Liverpool V Everton this used to be called the 'friendly derby' and still is in many people's books because so many families have supporters in both camps. People argue that some supporters have followed either Liverpool or Everton due to religious reasons because Liverpool had historical links to the protestant Orangemen and Everton to the Catholic religion. In terms of rivalry on the field this long running derby has produced more red cards than any other match since the start of the premier league. Another reason for the rivalry has been that these 2 clubs are situated so close in proximity to each other. Interestingly, Everton originally played at Anfield before they moved (not sure why) to Goodison park and Liverpool were then formed many moons ago when they left. Over the last few years the rivalry has definitely become more intense between these 2 clubs. I've never been to a Rangers V Celtic derby but have been a few times to a pro-Celtic pub when that derby was live on TV and the atmosphere was always nothing short than potent and like no other football rivalry I have ever witnessed. I guess it all depends on what we mean rivalry. I think these great derby rivalries will continue on especially Celtic V Rangers as they are just too deep rooted in us for many different reasons.
  20. Celtic V Rangers is by far the biggest Man Utd V Man City: been to a few over the years and huge rivalry is unquestionable Liverpool v Everton Arsenal V Spurs Aston Villa V Birmingham City
  21. Noticed that Gulf air are till doing great deals on Business class trips to LOS. Last one I saw was just under £1100 return from LHR for later this year; much cheaper than the nearest Biz class but the other more expensive airlines do have flat beds in business and I think a few hundred pounds is worth it for the full flat experience if your going to pay that much. I have tried Gulf air for economy before and found them to be OK.
  22. Depends on the plane. If 2 seats at the side of the plane then window, If 3 seats across aile. A 330 are 2 seaters at the side so windows seats when flying with those planes like Oman Air . B 777 used by Eva are 3 seaters at the side so aile so can get out easily to the bog and wander around. hate getting seat in the middle of the plane unless aile seat.
