Tonight I tried out Pattayaman 2001's new restaurant on Soi Bukhao. He wasn't present as I believe he was upstairs finishing some crochet work or The Sopranos or something. I had a prawn curry and my lady ordered Kung Pao chicken. My curry was lovely but she wouldn't eat hers because it was'nt "like they make the tea at home". Which means sod all. Anyway they packed the Kung Pao to go and after I had a sleep I set to watching movies and scarfed that down too!! I found it was very, very different to what I am used to from the states but I still loved it cold and all. My only criticism was that the curry was lukewarm, not that I cared I thought it was delicious anyway but it needed heating up a bit more. Generous with the prawns and loads of onions just the way I like it. Also not so freaking pet I was in danger of losing my powers of speech! I will definitely be going back REGULARLY. The gf wanted Thai food and didn't understand that we were going to a Brit chinkie. I did say but she didn't get it in fact she informed me that Chinese and Japanese food are the same so you can see what I was working with. i.e. her opinion doesn't count. Also pretty much all so called Chinese foods originated in the USA (including General Tso's chicken) it spread to the rest of the world from there and every country has put there own twist on it. In America Kung Pao anything is a spicy dish not sweet and sour and is loaded preferably with cashew nuts failing that peanuts. Not any kind of criticism I loved both dishes equally. Mind you Japanese food sucks the big one !!
