In this weeks UK Motorcycle News paper it mentions that circuit as a possible venue for a TT world tour.

I would certainly consider planning a trip around the time of the race.

I had heard that Bira circuit is closing soon. The owner of Siam Country Club bought it to close it as it is too noisy for the players on the new Waterside Golf Course.

Been a few times, a friend of mine was a director of an Insurance company that sponsored Dr Iain Cornish in his racing car, a Ford Escort Mk2 (if I remember correctly).

The company put on a tent and drinks a few other sponsors put on the food etc.

Now the Bira track is no Grand Prix racing circuit, cars are bombing around the circuit in a little over a minute or two, the barriers between cars and the crowd wouldn't pass safety for a kindergarten let alone the need to be certified for an International race track. Still it was a fun day out, just hide behind the tree when the cars come around the bend and that was just for the Toyota truck race or Dr Iain doing his best in his Ford Escort but heh, it was a couple of great days out!
