very young , relatively inexperienced squad .

Congrats to Fraiser Forster - hope he at least gets some game time in some of their warm up games

Yes but I would rather see them give youth a go than stick with the usual tried and tested selfish non performing tosspots. Very disappointed to see Rooney is in the squad. Not because of his skill but because I don't see him as a team player but as a negative influence. Let's hope the cars in Brazil have their wheels firmly bolted on. Should have been the first to go when Moyes took over Man U.

looks a very weak squad to me on paper too .

4 years down the line though with lampard and the other experienced players finished it might become a great England team .

I thought when I saw the draw England would qualify from the group , im not as confident now having seen the squad .

With all the lack of expectation from England fans, pundits and journos, the team with a traditionally cautious manager, may just surprise. There is little pressure on them so perhaps a freeer approach and youthful enthusiasm may just catch more experienced teams out.

I do hope so

I don't believe England have the players to win the world cup so taking a lot of youngsters is a good idea for the future, IMHO.

As for the humiliation part the players have already had advice from neighbouring country's players, who suffered the ignominy of failing to qualify for the finals, on how to handle any shame.

Not all of us were on the forum 4 years ago but there was some nasty stuff about England being said and other stuff about Scotland etc. It started off like this and built up into some nasty shit.

Hopefully we can avoid it this time for the sake of the forum.

LOL well said Mike ..... does Scotland have a soccer team?

Exactly. And the OP is one of the worse with his constant racist digs at the English.

I for one am quite excited by this squad. It's young and inexperienced so probably won't go too far. But this is the building of foundations for English football and it's what is needed. A change of thinking and looking forward rather than cautious lets see if we can nick a few results here and there. It's for passion written all over it

If and probably when England get knocked out I hope the youngsters will have given it their all and will be able to hold their heads high and take the experience and build on it for the future

I'm 50/50 on Lampards inclusion but who else is there with the wealth of experience he has. He needs to step up in a big tournament for once.

I feel sorry for Roy Hodgson. It must be difficult to examine every Englishman in the Premier League and decide which two to leave at home.

That's the one that stood out for me as a poor choice. Surely we have better, maybe not.

Rooney would have been the only Man U player i would have brought.

Id have left Lampard at home too - apart from that I'm happy with the squad. Its not like he has a Vincent kompany or a Suarez begging for the shirt

Yes, a much improved one on the past 2 years. From 76th in the FIFA world rankings to 22nd. Only 11 behind England who are currently 11th.

But, the topic not about Scotland It's about Englands forthcoming humiliation so please keep on topic.

Are you sure? Racist? :D

racism

/

noun

[mass noun] 1The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races: theories of racism

It's my opinion which from previous posts of yours is my right to make public without being abused. So best you stop being a hypocrite eh?

Well I for one am pleased to see 3 Southampton players in the squad, I think they deserve it.

As for the OP, perhaps it would have been wiser to add the tagline "IMHO Because I am Scottish and we never qualified again so we will support all and any team that England have to face, well that's cricket innit?"

Cheers

Can't speak for the whole of Scotland of course but ABE is certainly a popular sentiment there.

Got my three flags ready for the games on TV, that's all I'll need.

It always amazes me that year after year be it football, rugby, tennis, golf etc, if the Scots are doing well or playing another country then myself and I'm sure most of the UK cheer them on because they are British, I'll never understand the reason behind the the blind hatred towards England when they do qualify or do well that is exhibited by the other little countries that make up the UK.
