  1. western travellers eat any food, but thai's want thai food, their first port of call would be thai airways food.......
  2. a lot of thai's would prefer to travel their national airline too for the food / films etc if their prices were competitive .......
  3. every thai government will just keep propping up THAI Airways with non-performing loans.......running an airline is not easy but considering passenger traffic in / out of Bangkok its just a management problem
  4. the best thing Phuket has going for it is easy access with lots of flights from Bangkok, many high-end places there but you pay high-end prices too, mongering scene is hardwork unless you like late night clubbing............these days don't see it has much to interest me there ?
  5. heard good reports about this place, but it will have to wait till its good weather in high season before I drag my tail down there )
  6. I did a second trip to Yangon in February. Stayed at the Park Royal again, its very comfortable, and has a huge breakfast buffet spread. Seafood buffets etc in the evening. Second floor has a Chinese restaurant. Pool is small. Downstairs is a nightclub with 20-30 ladies hanging around. In the daytime its interesting walking around, lots of photo opportunities, its not a big city, and still many old colonial buildings. Shwedagon Pagoda is a must visit. Yangon doesn't have a bar scene like Phnom Penh or Pattaya, its more like rural Isaan with ladies on a stage in traditional dress waiting for a garland, or to be invited to your table for a drink. Google JJ's, Emperor or Pioneer. Chinatown has a few massage shops but i didn't venture inside. Its not a mainstream mongering destination but a chance to see a different culture. If you want something more adventurous try Bagan in the north which has 4,000 plus temples and ruins....
  7. love to visit that City one day !
  8. in the UK breakfast was a sandwich on the way to work, in Pattaya it leads to FB threads running into hundreds of comments and keyboard warriors throwing their dummies out of the pram lol
  9. the best Xmas dinner I have ever had in Pattaya was at Jamesons 3-4 years ago. Turkey carvery, all you could eat, a real "bird", not some processed lump, and the whole pub inside was decked out very well......
  10. Wish him good luck in his own place ! It must be frustrating working so many years for other owners to reap most of the profit. His website says still under construction, now that its is his own business hope he is a little more dynamic ........
  11. think he was just the manager, no doubt had some profit share or bonus scheme. The building owned by Rony Fineman and NOVA group
  12. you have been watching too much Kingsman & Colin Firth !
  13. they have a terrace outside which is possibly for smokers, I didn't see ash-trays on the table i eat at
  14. Yep the signs were included in my review on purpose. Eat in Patricks on Friday night, and the table next to me was a Scandy in a wife-beater vest with droopy muscles, come on man show some fookin respect !!
  15. Popped in for Sunday lunch. They recently had a mini-makeover and got rid of Kim Fletcher. It was a little brighter inside, and some new wall decorations and a couple more TV’s. Fairly quiet in there, only 4 customers. My roast chicken was pretty decent at 340 baht, girlfriends green curry was delicious. Pint of Heineken was 99 baht. Two serving staff were on the ball, and attentive. Not sure what market they are aiming at, the sign outside in thai said they needed more staff, it should gave said needed more customers !! I think it opened in 2004, that’s a long time by Pattaya standards ....
